Bullsheet - March 2001

Vol. 01 No. 03

President's Message

I spent 8 Beautiful Days in SUNNY FLORIDA and I get back just in time for the BLIZZARD OF 2001. Boy, its been a tough winter and it looks like its going to be a long drawn out spring.Oh well, enough about the weather, you can't change it!

Lets see, what else do we have to talk about, oh yeah, the CLUB SOCIAL. See Bob Brodeur at the next meeting or call him at R/C Buyers before March 14th as he will need a final head count for the restaurant. Don't miss out on all the fun and good food & drink! Have you ever seen me after a couple of beers? Well lets just say my nickname is 3-Beer Harry! After 3 beers, I'm not responsible for what I say or do. Just ask Rich or Ray! I promise I'll only have 2 cause I'm supposed to set an example. Yah right. Anyway, you don't want to miss this good time.

OK, let's talk about Membership. If your dues aren't paid yet, you're late and you will have to pay a 5.00 late fee on top of your dues! Now don't drag your feet till May or you will lose your place on the roster! Not good, don't do it. Get your dues in NOW! OK... we have at least two people who have told us they are not renewing and we have created some other openings, 10 maybe 12 and we hope to fill them this month and next month!

"Club Project" I'm done mine, how about you! !@$^*)*&^<>:"%&()$#@ NO? You don't have one? But I'm sure most of you are working on something because next month is SHOW & TELL!!! I can't believe it, the winterprojects are only weeks away till April. Don't forget Maurice will be bringing back that beautiful big bird he is working on and I can tell you, you will see major changes in this model. In Maurice's retirement years he eats drinks and sleeps airplanes! This guy logs more time in his building room in one week than most of us do in SIX MONTHS! Ask him if you can look at his THUMB! He has a callous on it so big, it's from pushing pins in the building board. That's how much building he does, and some beautiful building at that.

Oh, buy the way. I found out at the end of the last meeting that two of our members put a presentation of flight on for Fourth & Fifth Graders, I think, I'm just winging this (no pun intended) I should have researched this more (shame on me). Oh well I've winged it before. Anyway these two members gave a presentation complete with demos and squeezed in some building to boot. Our club should tip our hats to Maurice & Darrell for representing SNHRCC in such a positive way!

Way to go guys! ! ! Thanks from all of us!

I've been talking about building alot in this message. I wonder what Rick built this month! I think he has an assembly line like out in DETROIT or something. He builds them quick and are they nice ! He will even take an ARF, strip it and recover it with modifications of course and it will come out just GORGEOUS! Can't wait to see what he brings this month!

In closing, I would like to invite everyone to have a go at contributing to this BULLSHEET, this is your CLUB and your input is WELCOME. If you don't have access to a PC, write it down and give it to one of the officers and we will see that it gets to our Bullsheet Editor, Bob Johnson.

I'm running out of things to say, Hey... this is were your input could be, what a great idea!

See you at the meeting!

"Cabin Fever Social" Warming Up

Bob Brodeur, this year's Cabin Fever Social coordinator, reports that to date we have twenty-one members and guests signed up to attend this year's social.

The event will be held on March 23rd at 6:30 P.M. at Florence's Restaurant in Merrimack.

The cost is $19.50 per person.

The menu consists of the following:

  • Chicken Parmesan
  • Shrimp Scampi
  • Shrimp Marinara
  • Veal Parmesan
  • Spaghetti and Meatballs

This is a great time to catch up on the winter's activities and meet some new folks before the flying season starts. So stop breathing the balsa dust and dope fumes, get out of the basement and get ready to have some fun.

Reserve your spot with Brodeur at 603-888-7087 or 603-595-2494 on or before March 14th.

Secretary's Report - Month of February 2001

SNHRCC MEETING February 13, 2001

Griffin Memorial School, Litchfield, NH

Officers in attendance: Harry Peters, Rich Kelley, Kip Bean and John Hayes.

The Secretary and Treasurer's reports were read and accepted.

Bob Brodeur announced that the club social dinner will be held on March 23rd at Florence's Restaurant in Merrimack at 6:30pm.

Harry Peters reported the acceptance of the Litchfield shelter by the Granite State Quiet Flyers. A date will be determined when to remove the shelter from the Litchfield site.

The Safety Officer/Field Marshall positions will be filled by Ken Ux and Joe O'Leary.

Ken Ux will be the coordinator for the mowing schedule at the Wagner Field site.

Harry announced the junior members will NOT be counted in the full adult membership thus allowing a number of open slots that can be filled from the current waiting list.

Rich Kelley added that the gate at the Litchfield site is not really locked, the chain is so slack that it can be lifted over the post. We need to honor the landowner's wishes and keep the site locked.

    Hobby Highlights:

After coffee and donuts the club was entertained by several members showing their winter projects, the largest of which was Maurice Theriault's "Spartan Executive". John Hayes also gave a carving demonstration for doing curved wingtips.

    DUES REMINDER ! ! !

You can still pay your 2001 dues but late fees ARE in effect. It is important that you get them in before the May meeting. We have a waiting list of folks that want to join the club and all current memberships still unpaid following the May meeting will be given up to the new members.

    Don't procrastinate too long!

    -- Kip Bean (Treasurer)

    TOUCH N' GO ! ! !

    WRAMS SHOW 2001

Well flying season can't be far behind if the WRAM show is behind us. This annual show is one of three premier shows in the United States designed to allow the purveyors to present their wares, folks to meet old friends and show off the newest equipment available to spend juniors college fund on.

The show also supports a statid contest to allow modelers to preview what you will see flying in the next season.

John Hayes provided these photos from his newest digital camera to demonstrate that the show had something for everyone.

    -- Bob Johnson

Thanks . . . John! Love that digital stuff.
