|
Just a reminder that our next meeting will be held at the field. The meeting will start promptly at 7PM and we ask that you be present at that time. If you come early to fly, don’t panic, the meeting will be brief and we can all resume our flying after the meeting. There should be plenty of time for flying since there are no pressing issues at this time that need to be discussed. I think you’ll all be pleased at the progress of the new runway. We’re still waiting for the grass to grow, but we’ve stopped watching it, something akin to the old theory about a watched pot not boiling! There is still some field maintenance required and this will be done as needed throughout the season. A word of caution, you may want to bring some bug spray and for you wise guys out there, no, you can’t bring the Avon lady, but you can bring Skin So Soft. With hat in hand, I beg forgiveness from Andre. In listing the names of those who came out for our work day at the field, we inadvertently left out Andre’s name. As most of you club members know, Andre has always been there for us and he put in one heck of a day with the rest of the crew. So, Andre, our profound apologies and sincere thanks for a job well done. Remember that we will be hosting the Flying tigers on June 15th, so we’d like a really big turnout from our club. There is no contest, just a fly in and social. Bring anything that flies and plan a fun day. There will be plenty to eat, lots of free hot dogs, hamburgers and sodas that the club will provide. Now how about some of you barbecue chefs out there volunteering to do some of the grilling. We’ve heard you say how good you are on the grill, so how about showing the rest of the club. Volunteers can contact any of the club officers. Speaking of volunteers, anyone out there who would like to take over the Bullsheet? The Bullsheet is something that most members look forward to receiving and it would be a shame to let it just disappear. For the time being we will have the newsletter on our web site so you will have to check the site periodically for news of what’s happening. There may come a time when that is the way we will go, but there are some members who as yet do not have access to a computer and it would be a shame to direct news and events to only a portion of the membership. However, it is something for you to think about. If the membership wants to continue to disperse the news in that manner, we will do so. For now we need an editor. We have a good club, a large membership and lots of talent out there so how about a volunteer? Whoever elects to step forward will get as much help as needed. Jam night will be on Wednesdays again this year. Pack a picnic lunch or bring your own food to cook on the grill and join in the jam session. We’ve had some great Wednesdays and hope that we will have as good a turnout this year. Y’all come. -- Darrell Wagner |
