November Bullsheet 2002

Vol. 02 No. 11 - November 2002

President's Message

Unlike Sir Francis Drake, the wild mallard who refuses to leave, this lame duck will be pleased to turn over the reins to whomever you elect as your new president. Unlike Sir Francis Drake who returns year after year, I, even though this past year as president has been enjoyable, will not return except as one of the membership in the audience.

It has been a pleasure to work with all of the membership and especially the officers who have served you, Maurice, John and Kip. John and Kip will be around for another term, if you so choose and although I am not actively stumping for any candidate, you know how much these guys have given to the club.

It is important that we have a good turn out on Tuesday as nominations for officers will still be taken and it would be great to see some enthusiastic nominations. A little spirited campaigning for all offices would be interesting as well. So lets turn out on Tuesday and get some names on the ballot.

As outgoing president, I want to thank you for your support and especially for the great group of guys who showed up for all our work sessions and field work. We have seen the same dedicated guys show up time after time and we know it wasn’t just for the pizza and cold drinks. A lot of new faces gave of their time also and to them a thank you from all of us.

There is always work to be done to keep a good club together and get better and better, so when the call for volunteers goes out, and it will, we hope to see more and more of you. Your new officers will need your help and I hope you will give of it as unsparingly as you did to all of your officers this past year.

Like Sir Francis Drake, I will hang around, unofficially of course, since Mrs. Drake has laid down the law, it went something like, "The season is over, its time to move on and just enjoy".

Enjoy I have and it is time to move on, but don’t expect me to sit idly at the back of the room. I can only echo what was said to me by many when I took office, "If there’s anything I can do to help, let me know".

October Meeting Minutes!

SNHRCC MEETING OCT 8th, 2002
Litchfield Middle School
Litchfield NH

Officers in attendance: Darrell Wagner, Maurice Terriault, Kip Bean and John Hayes.

Secretary and Treasurer's reports were read and accepted.

Old Business:

Rich Kelley gave a brief rundown of the fun fly indicating that the event turned money back to the club. A special thanks was given to Bob Brodeur for all the really nice prizes, which he donated to the club. 11 flyers were present with three in novice and 8 in advanced.

Rich McGuinness announced October 26th for another combat event.

Rich Kelley mentioned the weight lift challenge, and asked the club to change the rules.

The changes are as follows:

  1. Removal of the of the 60 second flight time rule,
  2. Engines must be equipped with stock mufflers and no tuned pipes,
  3. Cargo container and must be removable and the aircraft still be flyable.

A motion was made to change the rules as proposed by Rich Kelley, the motion was passed.

Peter Skentzos said he feels the prize money should be self-supporting, suggesting the club could extend a fixed amount over the take from Admissions. Roland recommended we discuss the money for the weight lift challenge rather than wait for another meeting. It was mentioned that last year's weight lift challenge should be considered as seed money and that this year's challenge will indicate whether we really have an event or not, at that time we can decide if we want to work for its third year. Much discussion followed. Motion was made to vote $1,000 for next years weight lift challenge. The motion was voted with 20 in favor and 12 not in favor, the motion was passed.

Nominations were opened up:

  1. Rich McGuinness for President
  2. Roland Harmon for Vice-president
  3. John Hayes for Secretary
  4. Kip Bean for Treasurer
