Weight-Lifting Challenge

Our second annual Weight Lift Challenge was held on July 27.

"Your" defending champs (John Hayes, Rich Kelley, Harry Peters, Ray Breton) are again your champs.

There were two other entries competing this year:

  1. Terry Smith from Rochester, N.H.
  2. Bob Tanner from Merrimack, N.H.

Team Buzzard had the first flight in which we carried just over 5 pounds. Terry Smith from Rochester was next with a very unfortunate and disappointing flight that never made it back to the field. After a couple attempts, Bob Tanner from Merrimack was able to complete a flight with just over 2 pounds that nailed second for him. The plane was an interesting delta configuration that tried and tried to force "Team Buzzard" to fly again. Bob's determination was something to behold. I believe running out of Zap, epoxy and tape may have forced him to concede in the end.

Plenty of food was served midday during which Harry Peters and others took advantage of a little open flying time.

Interest was high for next year and positive feedback from the spectators was also encouraging. I do believe fun was had by all.

The Flying Tigers will be at Wagner Field on August 2nd as we return the favor.

Harry said the field is as good as it gets. It is now officially open.

The Charlie McLean Scale Fly in will be held at the CAGS field on the 13th of July.

John mentioned that the event may be looking for a new sponsor and that farmer in Hollis may be willing to sponsor the event.

Rich Kelley announced that the Weight-Lift Contest is still on for the end of July.

Following the meeting those that had airplanes enjoyed a bit of flying.
