President's Message |
|
Point to Ponder - Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man. Landing is the first. Christmas 2004 and a 2005 New Year have both come and gone and with winter half over it’s time to start thinking spring time. We need to get a work crew together so that we are ready for the flying season. Volunteers for mowing will not be turned away at any time. If anyone is interested in 1⁄2 - 20 scale AT-6 pylon racing (electric) let us know, as it could turn into a inter-club event with enough pilots. Kits are available. The Construction Derby is scheduled for sometime in May, other events could go into planning at this time for the summer and fall. For those that did not attend the auction you missed a great demolition demo put on by Breton & Peter’s Wrecking Co. Inc... It was a better show than watching a 300 ft. straight in nose dive at a 90 degree entry and full throttle. I’m afraid to ask what could be coming next. Hope to see you at the next meeting and discuss the above. -- David Redman |

Old Business John Hayes reported on the new mower, which is a Husqvarna with a 48” cut and sporting an 18hp Kawasaki v twin overhead valve engine and a verrrry comfortable drivers seat. The purchase price was $1900 with a 1-year warranty from Nashua Outdoor Power Equipment. Dave Redman and John Hayes picked up and delivered the tractor to the club shed where it is ready to go for the 2005 season. Ray Breton asked if the Auction was scheduled for January, previously we were considered moving it to the February meeting slot. The auction will be held in January at the regular meeting date. New Business Dave Redman announced that Clarence had asked about indoor AT-6 racing. Jim Thompson from the 495th R/C Squadron club could do a presentation on the planes and racing. A general interest was indicated, he will be scheduled for the February meeting. Dave Beach gave an update on the Frozen Fingers Fun Fly sponsored by the SNHFERCC. It will be held at their Merrimack field on January 9, 2005. A couple of the events were mentioned and the winner will receive a cash prize based on the number of entrants. Dave Redman mentioned some thoughts Field maintenance: Fertilizer (early) Contests:
John Hayes read the Concord Skyhawks letter requesting support in the form of donations to help secure a favorable position with the Conservation Commission. With a change in the ownership of the field and surrounding area, the club is to use the money to show the town through their support that they wish to be considered as users of this site. There was discussion; Robert Dionne made a motion to send the Skyhawks a donation of $100.00 as a show of support. Motion was seconded. Discussion followed. Robert retracted his motion when the discussion led to other clubs donating $200.00. John Marien made a new motion to donate $200.00 to the Concord Skyhawks. The motion was seconded and passed. Motion to adjourn Following the meeting was the annual Yankee Gift Swap; as usual a good time was had by all. -- John Hayes |
