I think summer snuck up on me. Here it is HAZY, HOT and HUMID and I do not yet have all my building done.
On the great side, our club has already had two events, with another just about two weeks away.
I was unable to attend the Train-Air .20 Fun-Fly, but I heard about the wind. However, I also heard there were NO losses. That is a real credit to the piloting level we are achieving in our club.
Speaking of pilots, are there any trainees out there? I have not seen one this year.
The Old Time Pattern event on Sunday June 29, was especially eventful for me because I flew single channel (plus throttle) for the first time in 40 years. Drew Davenport ran a very good contest.
At the contest was a pilot with a "1949 Livewire", rudder-only ship. Well, being one who loves a challenge, I modified my H-Ray to fly rudder only.
WOW, what a rush! My first flight was a figure nine take-off, crash! 2nd Flight; nice take off into a rollercoaster crash. The key here, I am learning, is throttle control. These ships need an engine with very good, very dependable low end! Yes I heard you Maurice. But knowing a thing and doing a thing are two different things especially when it comes to controlling your flight attitude or pitch control with your low end throttle. I learned what you need is a very light, rugged airplane, easy to repair and lots of courage to try again, 'whatever it takes'. Right, Rich?
Question, does anyone out there know how to unbend an elevator stick? 3rd Flight, great until landing time. Bang-o again. 4th flight; finally a flight with a take-off, flying, and a landing, ON-the-runway! The whole group at the meet had such a good time with this event, that several guys are going to build rudder only ships. Is this a subject for next years club project?
The runway is still flat and smooth. Thank you again Harry. Wish the fertilizer and seed took better. The outhouse works great, air conditioned and everything.
Awright guys, I keep hearing about the Flying Eagles participation rate. Well we are about to have our Southern New Hampshire Radio Control Club family day and fly-in with those guys as guests. We all need to join in the merriment for at least a portion of this one day. This can not be beat: Free Food, Free Fun and Flying. We had a very good attendance last year even though most of you guys did not indicate that you were coming to the event.
Is this another year of surprises? Sure, why not, come-on-down!
Remember, we ARE having summer meetings at the field. Second Tuesday of the month, 7:00pm at the field, flying before and after. Is this the year of a group Night-Fly?

SNHRCC Meeting Minutes Recap

Officers in attendance: Tom Loose, Bob Patukonis, and John Hayes
Dave Muse was absent due to a death in the family.
Secretaries Report was read by John Hayes, seconded and passed.
Treasurers report was read by Tom Loose.
The online/E-Mail version of the Bullsheet will be backburnered till a later date due to issues of formatting and compatibility with various computer platforms.
Tom indicated a new LOGO for the club may be coming, hence the existing clothing and goodies may become collectors items.
June 22nd will be Rich Kelley's Train-Air 20 fun fly, of the people present about 8 indicated they would attend.
July 13th will be the Merrimack Flying Eagles joining us at Litchfield for a Family Day/Fly-In event.
Upcoming will be the Construction Derby in August, and a Mini Rhinebeck in September.
A question of policy was brought up regarding what the Club should do in the event of a club members demise or a death in the family. Motions were made, amendments were made and defeated with a final decision to leave the system as it is, leaving it to the discretion of the club officers.
Rich Kelley asked about redoing the frequency board because the numbers were rather faded. Bob Brodeur volunteered to replace the existing numbers.
Tom Loose announced the July meeting would be at the club field on Tuesday July 8th at 7:00 (earlier than usual to beat the bugs).
R/C Buyers will donate a windsock to replace what's on the pole. Thank you, Bob Brodeur.
Hobby Highlights:
After coffee and donuts, all present were able to enjoy a fine presentation by Bob Spear on how to set up a plane for float flying. A lot of good information was passed on during this presentation. -- JLH
Train-Air .20 Fun Fly
On June 22nd Rich Kelley CD'd a contest for our Train-Air .20 winter projects.
There were 10 pilots in attendance with 9 planes flying. Shawn McCarthy was the extra pilot flying Darrell's plane in "twitch mode". Those who attended had a great time. Several of the wives attended and took care of sign-ups, scoring and generally keeping the pilots hopping. Food was provided in the form of sandwiches, and I'm sure Rich's wife's hands were kept cool reaching into the soda and water cooler during the very hot day. A great time was had by all, I know I'm looking forward to the next Fun-Fly. Hats off to Rich Kelley for a well CD'd contest.

Raffle Tickets
I think half of my brain went into tilt mode last month. Two things to be noted:
1) The raffle was the brainchild of Rich Kelley, it is based on the type of raffle held years ago which was quite successful. Rich pursued the prizes and set the wheels of the raffle in motion. This is a good way to gain some extra revenue for the club and I'm sure the winner will be very pleased. I've seen the prizes and WOW they are nice.
2) In my article I said the raffle ticket would be included in the newsletter for those unable to get tickets. Well, you guessed it I failed to get the tickets to Kip to be included in the newsletter, but here they are this month. My apologies... --John Hayes
