Happy New Year!
There is some good wholesome therapy in those words. I look at the New Year holiday as a cleansing moment; a way to say good bye to last year and then look forward with anticipation to a time of renewal. In short, a time to "start over". Others might reflect on last year, reviewing the events that transpired, and wondering if 1998 will produce the same.
This New Years I found myself wondering about the events that might unfold during this new SNHRCC year. With the events already planned, such as the auction, I hope we are as successful as last year. But I am particularly interested in a new agenda; finding ways to get new young recruits to join our ranks.
The club officers had a meeting which was attended by Shawn Mccarthy. I was encouraged to hear that Shawn and his son, Shane, will be at the field this flying sea-son. I am sure we will see Dave Muse and his nephew, Andrew, again this year. That's great! But I believe it is time for us to introduce more youngsters to our hobby.
Why? You ask. For a number of very good reasons. But the one that I like to focus on is that we have something very special to offer; our selves! I am sure many of us remember our early years in the hobby, green as can be and needing that mentor to help us through the learning process. Our membership has a lot of talent. It is time to pass it on.
Instant gratification is a trend today. Computer games have proliferated to a point that one can be very easily transformed into a "mouse" potato. Entertainment is important but not at the expense of other developing talents. We have a clean, wholesome, creative and challenging hobby Let's consider pitching in with ideas, volunteering some time, and passing on our "legacy" to others.

As always this is a popular event. Steve Lipsky was the first up this year and as always was the last to have his choice of the rest in the end. Lots of great gifts were exchanged, while some gifts stayed with the first person who chose the gift others received several owners before the end of the night. Fun was had by all.
